I build web platforms, and occasionally rescue old ones.
I've been writing code professionally for eleven years, most of it at IDX (formerly Investis Digital), where I'm currently an Associate Tech Lead. These days I work mostly on live video and real-time systems, and on the far less glamorous work of making them hold up once real people show up.
I've been keeping this blog since 2015. It's mostly notes to myself about things I've broken and fixed, with some open source and the occasional gadget thrown in.
Currently open to Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer and Tech Lead roles: remote, hybrid or on-site. Resume (PDF) or the one-page version

Things I've built
A platform for live events
Video streaming, real-time chat and Q&A, and a sign-in flow with no passwords in it. Built greenfield on Next.js and a pile of AWS.
A load-test harness
Simulates a few hundred people all joining an event at once, so we find the breaking point before the audience does. I built it out of a set of Claude Code agent skills, which turned out to be the interesting part.
Dragging a decade-old codebase forward
A Node.js platform stuck on a version six years past end-of-life. Getting it current meant deleting about 99% of it, which was more satisfying than it sounds.
A cookie consent tool
The GDPR/CCPA banner you've clicked through without reading. Mine runs on a few hundred sites.
Along the way: Snapchat, Disney, Rolls-Royce, United Airlines, HP, WWE and others.
Tools I reach for
JavaScript and TypeScript, React and Next.js, Node.js, MongoDB, Redis, and a fair amount of AWS. Docker and Terraform when I have to. Increasingly, Claude Code.
